Gavin McCormack is the Australian ‘big brother’ of Nepal. After visiting the country 2 years ago to conduct Montessori teacher training for Kathmandu Montessori Training Centre, he made it his mission to reform the education system in the country by building beacon schools around the country.
Gavin has worked extensively as the Principal of Kathmandu Montessori Training Centre to improve the quality of teacher training in the country.
He has worked hard to provide teaching materials, classroom management tools, training delivery and has even written and produced a curriculum which is currently being distributed throughout the countries schools.
After visiting the country many times over the past 18 months, Gavin is supporting several schools around the nation with advice, materials and documentation to support their learning framework.
Gavin is about to return to Nepal once again. The lone philanthropist is a teacher and writer from Australia who uses his online following to raise money to build new schools.
After already building and opening a school this year in Kavre, Gavin has now raised enough money to build another. He is seeking areas of interest at the moment where communities may be in need of a new school to find his next project.
He is very lucky to have the support of local business owner and entrepreneur Krishna Bhaktal Duval who is the CEO of Gorkha Eco Panels. Krishna has kindly offered to provide the building of the walls for free on Gavin’s next project, allowing Gavin to spend more of his funds on the purchasing of educational teaching materials.

As the hinourary principal of his centre I knew that I could start to make a difference. I am also thankful to Krishna for providing the walls for free for us. He is a very generous man who is helping those people less fortunate” Gavin was quoted as saying.
